These requirements are now even more important than ever before – under the recently introduced Work at Height Regulations, employers have a duty of care to ensure that work at height is properly planned, appropriately supervised and carried out in a safe manner.
Powered access has many advantages over traditional methods of working at height, such as using ladders or scaffolding equipment. Powered access equipment is much more flexible, faster, cost-effective and, above all, safer. For example, falls from ladders or scaffolding are responsible for over half of all the fatal injuries recorded in the construction industry.

Every machine in our fleet is put through a strict inspection and maintenance programme to ensure the highest level of safety and we also provide an accredited operator training programme to ensure that our powered access machines are used safely and effectively.
Scissor lifts provide a vertical lift with a range of different sizes for indoor and outdoor applications. These machines are used in construction, maintenance and contracting. We have special narrow-width units for applications where space is restricted, units with non-marking tyres for use on internal floors and rough terrain 4x4 units for when the going gets tough!
Whilst scissor lifts can only move directly up and down, boom lifts have a telescopic or articulated boom to proivde sideways outreach. The work platform can reach around and over obstacles. Boom lifts have a working height of up to 40 metres and can be rotated around 360˚, controlled from the work platform.
AFI’s machines are available with variety of power sources, from diesel to battery powered or bi-energy. Battery powered machines are used mainly inside existing buildings.
Diesel-powered equipment is often used externally where its greater power and traction enables a stable working-platform in rugged terrain and difficult conditions. Boom and scissor lifts are self-propelled for easy positioning and the work platform can be raised and lowered, either from the ground or from the elevated work platform.
Many models are designed to be driven safely in the elevated position, thus adding to their flexibility and increasing productivity.
